| Anti-Aging NeuroHealth
In addition to Dr. Master providing a very important focus on child neuro-development and preventive healthcare, he also provides neuro-protection and anti-aging services to adults so as to optimize nervous system function. In general, an adult who has a well-functioning nervous system will have a higher probability of feeling younger, more vibrant, and energized, as opposed to an adult with a poorly functioning nervous system. Understand that your nervous system is the "master system" of the entire body and, as such, governs all other systems, cells and tissues. Therefore, If the neurological system is balanced and working properly, then the body should function properly as well. As such, Dr. Master believes a well functioning nervous system in the mature patient will produce a higher quality of life overall. In fact, Dr. Master sees this daily with mature patients in his practice and oftentimes remarking that they feel "younger" and "more focused." Moreover, normal every day functional activities of daily living are said to be enhanced as well following a course of functional neurological care! Conditions which have responded to functional neurological care as provided by Dr. Master include: Head and Face Pain Dr. Master is able to provide effective non-invasive neurological applications involving various pain syndromes of the head and face including migraine, tension headache, trigeminal neuralgia, cervicogenic headache, trigeminal sensitization, facial nerve palsy, and TMJ disorders. Migraine Headaches Dr. Master specializes in treating the root cause of migraine headache syndromes by evaluating the integration between the brain and autonomic nervous systems. He oftentimes provides effective and successful resolutions and outcomes in patients suffering from all types of migraine head pain classifications. Moreover, Dr. Master has even been able to effectively resolve severe and chronic migraine head-aches in patients with a family history of migraines as late as four generations. So even if there is a genetic or hereditary history of migraines, Dr. Master may, oftentimes, offer hope in most cases by treating the imbalances of nervous system function. Cervicogenic Headaches (Neck Headaches)
Cervicogenic headache, in general, is neck pain which radiates to the head and/or face due to upper neck joint dysfunction. Cervicogenic headaches are very much under-diagnosed and, oftentimes misdiagnosed as sinus headaches or tension headaches. In fact, cervicogenic headaches are usually a major contributing factor to migraines and other head and face pain syndromes. Chiropractic neurologists are experts in evaluating and effectively treating the root cause of cervicogenic headaches without prescription drugs or surgery. Vertigo, Dizziness, and Balance Disorders Dr. Master has received extensive postdoctoral training in the diagnosis and management of vertigo and dizziness as it relates to functional balance disorders. He is fully trained to provide non-invasive evaluation including comprehensive neurological exams, video ENG evaluations of the oculomotor system, and caloric testing. These tests help Dr. Master ascertain the appropriate diagnosis as well as determine which neurological pathways have decreased plasticity or imbalance which is contributing to the root cause of the dizziness or balance disorder so as to apply an effective non-invasive treatment regimen and outcome. Cognition, Mental Focus and Concentration Typically during a course of functional neurological care, many adults, whether they are the full-time "stay-at-home" mom, corporate CEO, computer programmer or industrial worker, tend to notice enhanced mental focus, concentration and cognition coupled with a sense of feeling mentally "clear." Also, many patients notice increased attention span throughout the day thus enabling them to accomplish work tasks more efficiently, safely, and faster. Sleep Disorders Why do adults tend not to sleep as soundly as they once had when they were younger? There are many causes, but the most probable is most likely due to imbalanced neurological function as a result of the sympathetic nervous system being in "overdrive." Of course, other reasons may result in the cause of many sleep disturbances, but if it is determined that the cause of your sleep disturbance is functional, then the appropriate treatment should be functional as well, not simply a cover-up or mask of the symptoms such as with addictive sleep medicines. Understand that the higher brain functions should efficiently govern the sympathetic nervous system, but if the higher brain is stressed, functionally imbalanced, and working sub-optimally, then the sympathetic nervous system remains "unchecked" and, thus, will keep one from dozing or wake intermittently throughout sleep. In fact, during a course of functional neurological care, many patients oftentimes report that their dreams become more vivid and colorfully vibrant, a sign that the patient is obtaining more restful and deeper sleep. Pain Syndromes Chiropractic neurologists have extensive training in evaluating and managing various acute and chronic neurological pain generators in the joints of the spine and extremities. Pain syndromes include spinal disc disorders, RSD, causalgia, sympathetically maintained pain, myo- fascial pain disorders; shoulder, forearm, and wrist pain; buttock, thigh, leg and foot pain to name a few. Nerve Entrapment Syndromes Dr. Master's training includes the evaluation and management of nerve entrapment syndromes as it pertains to pain and numbness such as in carpal tunnel syndrome, tarsal tunnel syndromes, piriformis syndromes contributing to sciatic pain, as well as other peripheral nerve entrapments of the shoulder, forearm, wrist, and lower extremities. Movement Disorders Dr. Master has extensive training in the management of movement disorders without drugs or surgery. Head and trunk tremors (Cerebellar Ataxia), tremors of the hands or arms, muscle twitching, Restless Leg Syndrome and blepharospasm to name a few, may be managed non-invasively with functional neurological protocols as offered by chiropractic neurologists and, oftentimes, very effectively. Neurological Disorders Due to Dr. Master being a specialist in non-invasive functional neurology, he is able to provide effective treatment strategies for those suffering from various neurological disorders including certain seizures, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's, sleep disorders, and certain forms of dementia to name a few. He also is trained to provide specific neurological applications in stroke patients so as to create plasticity or growth of the remaining, and still viable, brain networks so as to enhance quality of life. Non-Invasive Coma Management Dr. Master's training as a chiropractic neurologist includes non-invasive management of coma, stupor, and vegetative state as it relates to dysfunctional neurological function. Rather than take a "wait and see" perspective, Dr. Master provides non-invasive functional neurological applications for those suffering from altered states of consciousness; possibly allowing the higher functions of the nervous system to begin functioning and, thereby, promoting a higher level of consciousness in the patient. Dr. Master provides on-sight hospital-based coma services for most patients with temporary permission from the patient's attending physician or hospital administrator. In most cases, permission is granted for Dr. Master to provide hospital-based functional neurological consultations in coma or stroke cases, thereby offering an additional perspective in the patient's functional case management. Please call Dr. Master's office to arrange a personal phone consultation with the doctor and for further details. Providing A Balanced Approach Toward Optimal Health | |
